Inclement Weather Policy

With New England winter weather fast approaching, please review our inclement weather policy:

In case we need to:

• Cancel School

• Delay School

• Dismiss Early

We understand that the decision to open, close, or dismiss school early in inclement weather has a substantial effect on families. We also understand that our students are better served, both academically and socially, by being in school. Our goal, as always, is to ensure the safety of our students and staff and to provide you with information regarding closings and delayed openings in a timely fashion.

What factors into the decision?

• We communicate with the City of Boston Public Safety and Public Works Departments.

• Local Police and Fire Departments.

• We give careful consideration to the road conditions. Even if your street looks clear, travel elsewhere may be dangerous.

• We are informed about building conditions.

• We are notified about parking lot conditions and sidewalks.

• We monitor weather predictions. Although we prefer not to use prediction it is sometimes unavoidable.

How are you notified?

Once the decision is determined, every effort will be made to notify you promptly, usually early in the morning and if possible, the night before.

Most likely if Boston Public Schools announce they are closed we will most likely be closed. On occasion, we have closed before Boston announced their closure for parents to make the necessary arrangements.

If we find that the school can’t open safely, you will receive the following message:

We must have the most current contact information for someone to pick up your child in case of an emergency.
